SHERMAN, Texas (July 29, 2026) — Red River ER & Hospital emergency medicine physician Dr. Alexander Lee has reached an impressive milestone, achieving 30 years of board certification through the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM).
Board certification through ABEM is a voluntary commitment that reflects dedication to the specialty of emergency medicine and a long-standing commitment to continuous learning and the delivery of high-quality patient care. To obtain ABEM certification, physicians must demonstrate the core knowledge, skills, and abilities required to practice emergency medicine at the highest standards.
The certification process includes formal education, a comprehensive multiple-choice examination covering the breadth of emergency medicine, and a half-day oral exam assessing clinical decision-making through scenarios based on actual cases.
“Thirty years as a board-certified emergency physician have been one wild ride, and I’m truly honored to receive this recognition from the American Board of Emergency Medicine,” said Dr. Lee. “Emergency medicine has given me a lifetime of unforgettable experiences, incredible colleagues, and the opportunity to care for my community. Dr. Lee earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed his emergency medicine residency at LSU Charity Hospital in New Orleans.
To maintain certification over three decades, Dr. Lee actively participates in continuous learning to uphold the highest standards of patient care. Through ABEM’s continuing certification process, he participates in ongoing activities to stay current with medical research and improve his clinical practice. He also completes regular, clinically focused, comprehensive assessments.
Dr. Lee’s professional interests include emergency medicine, critical care medicine, and wilderness medicine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.
