As we all get ready for back-to-school shopping and the last days of vacation, some families in our community are worrying about more than just their child’s upcoming quizzes. There are families in need in Sherman, and Red River ER is proud to have hosted the “Make a Splash Against Hunger” Food Drive this summer. This food drive benefited the Grayson County Crisis Center, the local food bank, Grand Central Station, and North Texas Youth Connection Center by taking donations of nonperishable foods from generous people in our neighborhood.
“Our goal was to collect as much as we could,” says Tiffany Wills, Red River ER’s Facility Administrator. “That’s why we reached out to local businesses, to get everyone involved.” The “Make A Splash Against Hunger” drive collaborated with 10 local businesses to arrange food drop-off stations around Sherman. Red River ER partnered with Hoyte Dodge, Nautilus Family Fitness, Nautilus Family Fitness West, Green Market Whole Foods, Texoma Hyundai, Bob Utter Ford, Texoma EMS, Tyson Foods, Sherman Chevrolet Cadillac, and CVS.
With the “Make a Splash Against Hunger” Food Drive a success, Red River ER is looking to see how else we can help our community this year. “We’re looking forward to hosting more food drives,” Tiffany Wills confirms. “Just like our blood drives, we want to host more events like these. We love giving back to our community, it is full of such good-hearted people.”
